What is a WETLAND?
Taman Wetland and the surrounding parkland serve as the water catchment area, which also play an important role in the natural control of siltation, pollution and the ecological system of the Wetland. Naturally the Wetland is able to filter the water that enters into the lake whilst assisting in flood mitigation. It also provides habitats for various aquatic, semi aquatic and associated fauna which attract migratory birds to the area. The park contains 32 species of rare fruit trees, 32 species of forest trees while 48 of mixed varieties that produce medicines and perfumes etc. It also contains 45 species of shrubs. In total 186 species of tree were selected with overall total of 58,685 trees and shrubs planted within the park. Varied bamboos stock are also planted with 29 species in all. Collectively these plants attract a variety of insects and small animals that play an important role in the food chain.

Did you know, that wetland putrajaya plays an important role in preserving the ecosystem of Putrajaya?
Throughout this area, you will find marsh plants such as giant bullrush (Scirpus grossus) and common reed (Phagmites karka) filling up the wetland cells. It acts as a natural filter for river water from sungai Chuau and Sungai Bisa before entering the Putrajaya lake. Wetland cell is also a habitat to birds, fish and other animals. Don't be surprised if a lizard or tortoise suddenly appears before you.


Taman Wetland provides several facilities such as a Nature interpretation Centre, Look-Out Tower, shelters and a jungle track to allow the public to have greater understanding of the flora and fauna as well as the ecological system of the Wetland. The Look Out Tower, which is 18 meters in height, is designed as a landmark for visitors to enjoy the panoramic views of the Wetland as well as the distant views of Putrajaya

Lookout Tower

Situated soundly on the hill, the lookout Tower is the highest point in Putrajaya Wetland. Standing at 18-metres tall, you will be mesmerized by the beauty of the wetland area as the habitat for various flora and fauna species. Among the plants you will find here are tembusu (Fragraea fragran, mahang merah (Macaranga sp.) and will mangosteen (Garcinia subelliptica).

Nature Trail
Continue your adventure by following the Nature Trail. You will definitely feel relaxed and closer to nature. You will come across a variety of flora species such as pulai (Alstonia angustifolia), gapis (Saraca indica) and kasai (Pometia pinnata). If you are lucky, waterhens or squirrels will cross your path.

Water panorama that is calm, wind that is fresh, that attract and natural beauty certainly very attractive. It also fits for individual spend leisure time with family in weekend. It opens from 10am hour to 6.30 pm from tuesday to friday and 10am to 7 pm on weekends and public holiday. Bearing to me it is place of interest provide various doings like fishing and kayak apart from being an area regale while relaxing
